I sat down and wrote out my last goodbye emails to my friends. Even though most of my friends were from the privilged class, they still weren’t going to Harmony. Only a few hand chosen geniuses from around the orld were going. And I was one of them. Not only that, but I was going with the *Governor* of the colony. The whole concept still seemed so weird. I often wondered where I would be if Uncle Kevin hadn’t taken me in when I was ten years old. Probablly dead or in some life of crime or something.
I turned off the computer and went to the window. I stared out at the city lights. This would be the last night that I looked at them. I was nervous about leaving, but excited too. A new world. Clean air, clean water, no crime. It was pretty amazing when you think about it. A lot of the kids at my school mocked the whole idea of Harmony. They thought it was just a stupid dream. But I believed. If anyone could make it work, Uncle Kevin could.
There was a knock on my door. I turned around as Uncle Kevin came in.
“Hey partner. You all ready and packed to go?”
“Yeah. Just a few last things to throw in.”
“Have I told you how proud I am of how you’ve handled all of this?”
“Just about a ten times,” I grinned.
“Well I am.” He came forward and hugged me. I’m too old to be hugged, but I let him anyway. I mean, as of tomorrow, all we would have is each other.
Kevin then sat down at my desk, “I have something to talk you about Pal.”
The serious look on his face made me nervous, “Nothing’s gone wrong has it?” I asked.
“No, no. Everything is going to plan. Do you remember your cousin Anna Lisa?”
I nodded and laughed, “Yeah, how could I forget her?” We had been best friends when were were children, before I went to live with Uncle Kevin and started moving around the world with everyone of his career moves. Anna was always in trouble for something. I hadn’t heard from her in about five years now.
“Well,” Kevin said, “You guys are going to get a chance to be reaquainted.”
“What do you mean? I’m moving to Harmony….”
“She’s coming with us.”
“To Harmony?” How could that happen? Her mom wasn’t one of the privilged few.
“Mariah – you rmemeber your Aunt Mariah? She phoned, asking me to take Anna with us. I agreed. I just got the news that it’s official. She’s coming with us.”
“Where is she going to live?” I asked.
“With us.”
“Us…” I wasn’t really sure how I felt about that. I was used tobeing an only child – having Uncle Kevin to myself.
“Are you okay with this?”
“Yeah, sure. It’s fine Uncle Kevin. I mean, it’s good that’s she’ s getting a chance. It doesn’t really seem fair that only I should.”
Uncle Kevin stood up and smiled at me, “I shouldn’t have expected anything less from you. You’re a good kid. Now go on, get some sleep pal. We leave early tomorrow.”
“Okay. Goodnight Uncle Kevin.”
He left closing the door. I lay down on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. So Anna was coming with us. Some of my best childhood memories were with Anna. I wondered if she remembered me at all. It was going to be interesting to see how it all worked out…

I am glad that he is willing to give his cousin a chance and that he is hopeful about the situation.
Kevin is right he is a good boy.
